The Greene County boys track and field team finished their regular season last Thursday, competing in the Class 2A state qualifying meet in Manson, qualifying five events for the state meet, taking place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
First and second place finishers in each event automatically qualified for the state tournament, with statewide performances in each event examined, advancing the top eight times, jumps or throws not placing first or second.
Isaac Carman placed first in the discus throw, automatically qualifying for state, with the distance medley team also racing first with a quartet of Trey Schilling, Broc Stream, Nick Madsen and Drew Wolterman.
Qualifying based on performance is Nick Madsen, who placed third in the 200 meter dash at the meet, but his time of 23.09 seconds was strong enough to push him to the state meet. The 4×100 meter relay team, run by Schilling, Nathan Behne, Broc Stream and Madsen also placed fourth in Manson, but their 44.53 run was worthy of a spot at Drake Stadium. Also the 4×800 meter team of Noah Hinote, Gavyn Winters, Nick Stream and Wolterman will see the blue oval after taking third at the state qualifying meet, but earning a top eight time spot, finishing their race in 8:22.53.
As a team, the Rams finished third at the state qualifying meet. Names of runners in non-qualifying relays were not available at the time of publication.

400 meter hurdles – Camden Strennen, 1:00.3, sixth; Lane Fields, 1:00.57, seventh.
800 meter run – Gavyn Winters, 2:09.88, fifth; Drew Wolterman, 2:24.22, 14th. 1600 meter run – Noah Hinote, 4:59.41, eighth; Jaden Koller, 5:24.81, 17th.
3200 meter run – Jaden Koller, 12:05.28, 14th.
4×100 meter relay – Trey Schilling, Nathan Behne, Brock Stream, Nick Madsen, 44.53, fourth.
4×110 meter shuttle hurdle relay – Greene County, 1:14.92, 11th.
4×200 meter relay – Greene County, 1:40.96, ninth.
4×400 meter relay – Greene County, 3:50.55, ninth.
4×800 meter relay – Noah Hinote, Gavyn Winters, Nick Stream, Drew Wolterman, 8:22.53, third.
